Why restraint reads as premium

Luxury, in any medium, is mostly about what's been left out. A well-set page with generous space and one confident accent feels expensive because it signals confidence. It says: we don't need to convince you with volume.

The space around an element is doing as much work as the element itself.

When you cut a decoration, ask what it was doing. If the honest answer is "filling space," the space was the better design.

A practical test
